Skipper James (Jim) MacDougall

Jim MacDougall has been sailing all his life. As a young man Jim spent endless days sailing with his father on the Great Lakes. Jim then chartered on the west coast where he completed cruising and navigation courses through the Canadian Yachting Association. After a 26-year career with the Calgary Police Service, Jim retired to the west coast with his wife, Ivana. They are now fulfilling a mutual dream to own and operate a "proper sailing yacht". Sailing Islay Mist is not just a hobby - its a passion, and it shows in the care and attention lavished on this vessel.

Jim has completed all training required by Transport Canada to ensure your safety including:
  • SVOP
  • MED 3A
  • Marine First Aid
SIDE NOTE: Some of you may be wondering where the name "Islay Mist" came from. This is a tale that only friends who come aboard will share. Scottish folk may have a clue (and it doesn't just have to do with geography).
